After several years at Summa Health, Dr. Wayne brings his expertise back to CommuniCare Health as Chief Medical Officer

Cincinnati, OH (July 23, 2019) – CommuniCare Family of Companies welcomes Dr. Matthew Wayne back to the corporate leadership team. Dr. Wayne joins the CommuniCare leadership team at a regional office in Akron, OH and is overseeing all CommuniCare facilities as the Chief Medical Officer.

After four years of providing clinical leadership at CommuniCare, Dr. Wayne joined Summa Health as Chief Medical Officer of Summa Health Medical Group and New Health Collaborative, Summa’s Accountable Care Organization. In this position, Dr. Wayne oversaw the clinical integration of the entire continuum of care: ambulatory, acute, and post-acute. Ultimately, however, Dr. Wayne feels called to the long-term care and complex needs of geriatric patients and returned to CommuniCare in June of 2019.

“My heart is in post-acute and long-term care, “Dr. Wayne said, “returning to CommuniCare is like coming home. This organization is family owned and they have always treated me like family. I never forgot that.”

Taking what he has learned about value-based care from Summa Health, as well as his specialized knowledge gained from AMDA, The Society for Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine, Dr. Wayne is ready to get back to work in the field he is most passionate about.

Dr. Wayne has established a wonderful foundation of teamwork at CommuniCare. He emphasizes the importance of being inclusive while working in groups in the healthcare industry and works diligently to form interdisciplinary teams.

“Providing personalized care to individual residents is extremely important to CommuniCare,” Dr. Wayne stated, “Which is why I believe that bringing together experience and insight from different experts is what makes it possible to create a culture of high-reliability care.”
